One of the nicest holidays I ever did was a tour of the Australian coast between Sydney and Melbourne. There was stunning scenery, lots of things to do and friendly Australian people.

I drove south from Sydney through Royal National Park. The Grand Pacific Drive is exhilarating. I took my time exploring coastal villages and spent a few hours in the bustling city of Wollongong before stopping for the night at Jervis Bay.

The next daybreak I took a cruise to see the resident dolphin population that Jervis Bay is renowned for. The beautiful white sand beaches made it hard to leave. Further south I managed to buy some great, high quality craft items in the historic villages of Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba.

I stopped at Mimosa Rocks National Park and swam in the lagoon before stopping at Tathra Beach to watch some surfers and enjoy the beach. That evening I lodged in the classy village of Metung and had a wonderful seafood platter in one of the lakeside restaurants.

Wilsons Promontory National Park is home to great scenery and an abundance of wildlife such as emus, wombats and kangaroos. I spent an entire day hiking through eucalypt forests, exploring beaches and coves and climbing on granite mountains.

Next stop was Fish Creek, a small, quirky and thriving town with arts and crafts, books and cafes. I took the bridge over to Phillip Island, a popular family stop. At Nobbies Centre you can watch the penquins strutting up and down the beach and see one of Australia’s biggest fur seal settlements.

I ended my trip in Melbourne making my last stop at the working heritage farm on Churchill Island. Renting a car gave me the flexibility and convenience during my trip from Sydney to Melbourne. Next time I may get a car rental in Melbourne and do this trip the other direction!

It’s the last week in June so that signifies merely one thing. Wimbledon is here! It’s the half a month in the year where people will get out their tennis rackets, find their whitest of whites and brave the predictable showers to exercise their serve and volley. This blog is from our recent trip to Waikiki. Ive got to tell you, if you ever have the opportunity to make it to Hawaii, you should absolutely take the offer. It has to be one of the most enjoyable places in the States. It is so amazing to have such a phenomenal location in our country.

The hospitality there is astonishing. We took a surf lesson, rode a canoe, saw a few hula exhibits and even had a chance to try out some bona fide Hawaiian food at a luau. They say ono out there, it means delicious. The Kalua Pig is to die for and be sure to stop by for a lava flow drink at Dukes. Its a little spot on Waikiki beach, great for an evening night cap. One of the most unforgettable aspects was when we treated ourselves to a massage. It was stunning, super relaxing and well deserved after a hard years work.

Oahu is special. Don’t stress that you won’t do it all, because you can’t. Determine what is most important to you and focus on that. Take time to unwind and enjoy just being there. Needless to say, we will be going back as soon as possible.
