London’s Heaven saw a rare club performance last week from Leicester band Kasabian, an appearance which Clash Music attributes to both the band’s “stunning new album” and successful tour with Oasis earlier in 2009. The band is doing unbelievably well this year, and is preparing to launch another nationwide tour later this month. Kasabian music videos have become well known for featuring fans of the band.

But perhaps that is why it is so surprising that the band took time out to play at the famous – yet tiny – London nightclub. Kasabian performed a shorter set than usual, but seemed happy to be doing it.

Frontman Tom Meighan told the intimate crowd: “This makes a bit of a change from the arenas, I like it!”

The band opened their set with “Julie & the Mothman,” and continued on playing tracks from the recently released West Ryder Pauper Asylum. That’s not to say, however, that they didn’t play a few classics for the audience. The club saw Kasabian especially warm up the crowd with “Shoot the Runner” and “Empire.”

The band polished off their set at Heaven with “Vlad the Impaler” at the event to launch MySpace Music. Kasabian was supported by Delphic, out of Manchester, and Crystal Fighters.

The new internet platform – which went live in the UK December 3 – features music videos streaming and downloads, and is available here after MySpace managed to come to an agreement with both indie labels and British royalty collection group PRS for Music. Previously the service was only available in the US.

Former Westlife star Brian McFadden has reacted angrily to claims that he and fiancee Delta Goodrem’s relationship is on the rocks.

The Dubliner jetted back to his adopted home of Australia last week to be with his singer girlfriend for the New Year celebrations, having spent Christmas at home in Dublin with his two daughters, Molly (9) and Lilly Sue (7).

It’d been claimed that the couple, who have been together for five years, were on the verge of splitting after Delta missed Christmas celebrations in Brian’s family home in Artane.

Delta was forced to cancel her trip to Ireland when she had to reschedule a performance at the Sydney Opera House for Christmas Eve. A family insider insisted that there is no truth to reports that Brian jetted home for crisis talks with the former Neighbours actress.

“Him and Delta are fine,” said the family source. “They’re still rock solid, I don’t know where these rumours come from.”

Meanwhile Brian was determined to assure fans that all was well, posting the following comment on his Twitter page.

“What would we do without the English press? Just when I thought Delta and I were happy they let me know we’re not. Thanks I almost missed it,” he wrote.

Beyonce Knowles has confirmed she will release a new album next year.

The ‘Halo’ singer – who released her last album, ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ at the end of 2008 – revealed her plans to work on a new LP during the next 12 months while she was performing to crowds at a concert in Nottingham, England.

She told fans at the Trent FM Arena: “I’ll see you in a year with a new album.”

Beyonce has spent the majority of this year touring and has released eight singles from the LP over the past few months.

Earlier this month, Beyonce was the most successful star at the MTV Europe Music Awards, scooping three prizes at the coveted ceremony.

After performing in a skimpy red corset and suspenders, she was awarded the prize for Best Song for her track ‘Halo’, Best Video for her hit record ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’ and also scooped the Best Female Singer honour.

Beyonce Knowles has taken a provocative turn in her musical career appearing alongside Lady Gaga in a weird new video clip for their single Video Phone.

In the video, Beyonce struts around in a range of skimpy outfits while paying tribute the film Reservoir Dogs and ’50s pin-up girl Bettie Page.

But it’s the edgier moments, such as the Single Ladies singer holding a toy gun up to the heads of bare-chested hooded men, that suggest she is determined to shake up her image.

According to the Huffington Post, Gaga said last month that she told Beyonce, “‘I don’t want to show up in some frickin’ hair bow and be fashion Gaga in your video. ‘I said, ‘I want to do you.’”

The Small Faces story starts in the late fifties when the very young Steve Marriott was sent off to audition for the role of the Artful Dodger in the London stage version of “Oliver”. Apparently, when Steve did the audition in front of the show’s director, Lionel Bart (playing a skiffle rendition of Buddy Holly’s “Oh Boy”), Hart remembered him as the little Cockney urchin who used to busk around bus queues down the East End, strumming a ukulele which his dad bought for him when we was just eight years old.

Steve fitted the Artful Dodger person perfectly. It was him down to a tee. In fact the only reason his Mum sent him to the Italia Conti Drama School in Islington, North London was for the simple fact that Steve burnt down his old school. (The Stratford Express carried the headline “Little Chicago Burns” alongside a photo of Steve in his Artful Dodger outfit) and so his Mum sent him to drama School to keep him out of trouble; though while there, Steve and several other aspiring young Cockney actors would set upon the posh kids and nick their sweets and their money!

It was while performing with “Oliver” that Steve made his vinyl debut, appearing on the stage cast, recording alongside such hammy old British actors, Ian Carmichael (who played Fagin) and Joyce Blair. Steve’s voice hadn’t quite broken and his vocals are pretty much unrecognisable. (Maybe the Small Faces should’ve done a psychedelic concept version of “Oliver”)

After “Oliver” Steve joined his first band, The Moonlights, who were Shadows copyists, right down to performing the Shadows’ steps. After the Moonlights disbanded, Steve was signed to Decca Records for his first single release. Give Her My Regards appeared in the early part of 1963 and Steve hiccups his way through the song like a teenage Buddy Holly! A new Small Faces dvd charts their history.

The single flopped but Steve had plenty of work to get on with. He appeared in two films in 1963, the first being “Heavens Above” (Rank) where he played a small part as Jack, the eldest of a bunch of kids whose family get evicted and are put up by the vicar (played by Peter Sellers) and eventually leave the church where they were staying, nicking the lead of the roof.

The film itself has been dubbed a minor classic (full of moral and satirical implications on modern society). The rest of tile cast included Eric Sykes, Irene Handl and Roy Kinnear.

Steve’s second film of 1959 was one of those corny beat music movies, which were so popular during the early sixties. “Live it up” (Rank) features David Hemmings and Heinz Burt (who, as just plain Heinz scored a big hit in 1959 with his tribute to Eddie Cochrane Just Like Eddie, and also played on the Tornadoes chart-topper Telstar in 1962); who along with Steve work as messenger hoys for the Post Office. They decide to form a band and record a demo called Live it up.

If you or your kid enjoyes singing, perhaps they could think about learning with professional violin or piano lessons. A qualified music school in Chicago probably offers qualified instructors who can personally help you learn how to play in various types of music, instruments and genres. A music student wouldn’t have to walk very far to find a Chicago music school offering friendly and professional guitar or piano instructors.

Take for first measure, voice lessons. It’s all-too easy to say the human voice is a wildly popular music-making tool (but you could also play the accordion). They’re versatile enough to contribute to almost any song. A talented singing teacher would let you play a remarkably mind-blowing number that’s worthy of the effort. Dissimilar from old school guitar classes, youthful Chicago schools of music are the thoughtful up-and-coming way to learn the skill by playing guitar, or piano.

So what, whether you only recently picked it up or you haven’t played all your life–Chicago piano lessons can help musicians master all the great songsbetter than individual study. There’s guitar lessons in Chicago, Adult and Child piano instruction, preschool piano lessons for children and even accoustic music classes. As you know, many will still tell you to learn your music theory before moving onto beloved piano music you enjoy. Just wait, they’ll want to join you when you show off your skills,

These young teachers are acquiring an entirely dissimilar philosophy. Essentially there are lots of different learning tools! However, the biggest piece of info to recall is that guitar lessons, and music school of any kind was meant to be loved. You can’t fail making music, because any off-key note you play, can be justified by the a new course of direction. Guitar teachers are here to stay.

MTV seems to be playing fewer and fewer music videos anymore, but that doesn’t mean they won’t continue to celebrate killer clips from artists like Beyonce and Lady GaGa.

These two single solo ladies are tied for the most MTV Music Video Awards nominations this year, with nine nods a piece. The categories they share include Video Of The Year, Best Direction and Best Special Effects, though we’re a bit confused by the latter for B’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Because, frankly, you just can’t fake being dance-crazy and mad foxy.

“Paparazzi” by Lady GaGa got five nods as “Poker Face” got four (including Video Of The Year).

The show takes place in New York Sept. 13 and will be broadcast on the cable network.

Britney Spears is runner up with seven Moonmen nominations, including Video Of The Year for “Womanizer.” Others competing for that title are Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown” and Eminem’s “We Made You” — apt, considering MTV made him.

There are ten tracks up for Breakthrough Video, like Gnarls Barkley’s “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” and Chairlift’s “Evident Utinsil.” Ten other tracks up for the shoulda-coulda-woulda-been retrospective Best Video (That Should Have Won A Moonman) category — old stuff like U2’s “Where The Streets Have No Name,” George Michael’s “Freedom” and Radiohead’s “Karma Police.”

But the new, bullsh*tty cross-branding category this year goes to Best Performance In A Pepsi Rock Band Video, for which mere mortals like you and I can compete. Entrants can submit their own “Rock Band” music videos Aug. 8 – Sept. 1 via the PepsiRockBand.com website. We’re practicing up on our best “Ace of Spades” here at the HitFix compound.
